| A new learning environment
is being created for Ph.D. students in biological, physical and computer
sciences, and engineering so that they can perform advanced research in
their respective disciplines while integrating with other disciplines.
The multidisciplinary research, education, and training lead to one of
the following dual degrees:
o A Ph.D. in a biological
science discipline combined with an M.S. in computer science;
o A Ph.D. in an engineering
field, with emphasis on life sciences research, combined with an M.S. in
computer science;
o A Ph.D. in computer
science combined with an M.S. in a biological science.
Dual-degree students are
required to complete at least one extended research internship appropriate
for their research projects. For these internships, consortial arrangements
are being established with various institutions in the US, Europe, and
Asia. |
